About this guide

This guide provides information about how to migrate your organisation, client applications, users, connectivity and identity and access management to Thredd Portal, REST APIs via API Hub, and Thredd's Secure Framework.

Thredd's scalable security architecture roadmap is aligned with emerging standards and regulatory requirements. In the context of this work, Thredd has enhanced its identity and management provision, connectivity services, Certificate Authority (CA), and developer tooling within its Secure Framework.

As a result, Thredd is phasing out support for Raidiam Connect for issuing certificates and Cloudentity as an identity provider and OAuth OpenID Provider.

If you are currently using Cloudentity and Raidiam Connect, you can migrate to Thredd Portal and the new identity and access management platform once you receive confirmation from Thredd that you can begin this migration process.

Target audience

This guide is aimed at developers and system integrators who need to migrate and configure secure connections to Thredd services as an existing client. It provides information for security consultants and Chief Information Security Officers (CISOs) who need to assess Thredd's security infrastructure.

How to use this guide

This guide covers several different migration pathways, which differ primarily based on the secure connectivity method available to clients to connect to Thredd. The migration process that you must follow depends on your existing configuration with Thredd and your target configuration state.

When you are ready, refer to the main Migration Overview Index page to identify and follow the Migration Overview that best matches your existing and target configurations.

Each overview summarises the different stages of the typical migration pathway. Use the Migration Overview as your guide to work through the different stages, and use the links within it to the instructions that you must complete for each stage.

To ensure that you follow the correct process, refer to the Migration Overview and sections that match your target state for connecting to Thredd. You should also familiarise yourself with the Thredd Secure Framework and Thredd Portal overview.
